Is Sunbrella fabric waterproof?
Sunbrella Marine is highly water-resistant but not fully waterproof. If you need a truly waterproof fabric, Sunbrella SeaMark is what you’re looking for, which combines Sunbrella’s standard acrylic with a vinyl backing to seal out water.
The reason Sunbrella Marine is so popular for custom outdoor furniture covers and outdoor kitchen covers is its breathability. Any type of moisture that gets underneath can dry quickly, preventing any type of mold or mildew from building up underneath. We do use SeaMark for custom covers however, because many customers need a waterproof solution. When using Sunbrella SeaMark, because it is waterproof and traps moisture, we add mesh air vents along the skirt of the cover to promote air circulation. While this doesn’t make it 100% breathable, it dramatically decreases the chance of mold.

Besides the Infinity Process, these canvases are coated on one side with high-tech resins, providing optimal resistance to water penetration.
